Can Your Law Firm Live Without Microsoft Vista?

Good article on the new Windows vista system from law.com.

Vista is the successor to Windows XP, the PC operating system currently used by over 400 million people. After more than five years of intensive efforts, Windows Vista is finally complete. This new operating system is a major Windows update with lots of new functionality and features. The words Microsoft uses to present its new operating system are "Confident, Clear, Connected." It is a complex product and a big product, 50 million lines of code. It's the first Windows version to provide developers with a major new programming model in ten years. This article looks at what is new about Vista, pros and cons of upgrading, hardware requirements and how this new operating system will impact the technology path of your office.

Googles Updated Sitemap Features

Google has added a new feature in the Google sitemap program under webmaster tools, and it is a nifty link tool.  Google has always offered some kind of an idea of the # of links pointing to your site, but its always been a very low # and not a true indicator of the total # of links pointing to your site.

This new tool offers a much better indication of how many other sites are linking to your site, the different pages that are being linked to and also the internal links from within your own site.  This is a very valuable free tool and can provide a lot of great insight into who is linking to your website.

Your lawfirm should make sure that its website is included in the Google sitemap program. It can offer a lot of very valuable information and is a good way to make sure that Google indexes all of the pages within your site.

Keyword Discovery & Wordtracker Free Keyword Tools

Trellian's KeywordDiscovery.com is offering a free search term suggestion tool. Type in a seed keyword and the free tool generates the top 100 keywords from data complied and collected from more than 180 search engines worldwide.

Why is Trellian offering a free search term suggestion tool? Its web site says, "For many years the Overture Keyword Suggestion was the only free, publicly available keyword research tool. Now, due to its recent outages we are pleased to offer an alternative."

Earlier in the week, Wordtracker also has launched a free keyword suggestion tool. The tool gives webmasters up to 100 keywords in each session.

These are great tools to use when trying to determine what keywords  you should focus on in your online marketing campaigns, I use them both and would lean towards Keyword Discovery as the better of the two.
